About coronaviruses

Coronaviruses are common in many animals. Rarely, an animal coronavirus can infect humans.

There are many different types of coronaviruses. Some of them can cause colds and others mild respiratory diseases (nose, throat, lungs).

Other coronaviruses can cause more complicated respiratory illnesses, such as severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS). Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is a viral respiratory disease caused by a SARS-associated coronavirus. It was first identified at the end of February 2003. COVID-19 is the disease caused by SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that appeared in December 2019 and has been part of the SARS group of 2003.

Virus infections and diseases caused by various viruses have been, are and will be present in the future.

What can we do? What can we control?

Control the controllable!

Prevention involves: hand hygiene, physical distance, and avoiding contact with others if you feel unwell.

Plan A is for prevention and plan B is in case it happens to you.

Something that can be discussed with your doctor.

A kind of compass or a roadmap in an unknown territory, a flashlight at night and maybe a lifeline when needed.

Take care of your health!
