The specialists in couple psychology believe that people feel and understand love through five elements: the words of encouragement, the time granted, the gifts received, services and physical embrace.

Of these, the deepest manifestation of love is achieved through the language of physical manners, which includes a very wide range of gestures: from held by hand, kisses, caress to sexual contact itself.

Language of love – from embrace to sexuality

All these gestures are ways to communicate to the partner the emotion of love. Moreover, physical touch is in itself more than the expression of love, a way to maintain our health and youth both emotionally and mentally or physically. In folklore there are 3 expressions that most correctly describe the power of the hugs: We need 4 hugs a day to survive, 8 to maintain and 12 to grow.

Body contact is as important as the need for hunger, thirst and sleep. “

Effects of physical hug or touching

In addition to the good sensation they create, hugs have the effect of relieving soul pain, reducing anxiety and depression. For this reason, people who have these experiences have higher chances of recovery and regaining their well -being if they have someone next to them, even a pet. Hugs can also fight the effects from infections and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

“In just ten seconds of hugging, a decrease in oxytocin (stress hormone) occurs at the physical level in the brain.

This chemical reaction decreases blood pressure, fighting fatigue and infections and relieves the symptoms of depression.

Also, through hugs, the amount of cortisol in the blood (the hormone that regulates carbohydrate metabolism and stress) decreases.

Biochemical and physiological reactions to embrace, can produce (especially in women, show some studies) improving social competences (communication, reducing feelings of embarrassment) and increasing the feeling of confidence.

At the same time, the hug brings positive psychic and physiological stimuli, both to those who embrace and to those embraced, increasing the feeling of protection, safety, self -confidence and others, inner strength and health ”.

Sexuality – the language of love that brings health into the body and peace in mind and soul

The sexual appetite is given by the level of estrogen in the blood, and the actual attraction, which we feel towards the partner, is mainly caused by three neuro-transmitters: adrenaline, dopamine and serotonin.

Adrenaline causes the heart to beat more and the pulse grows, dopamine and serotonin cause pleasure.

“During the sexual act, a kiss or a touch, hypothalamus produce and neurohypophysis release vasopressin and oxytocin. These hormones are responsible for maintaining and developing feelings of love, the appearance of pleasure and also influences a person’s fidelity (in animal studies, it has been observed that these hormones can bind the partners for life) “

” During sexual intercourse, even at a simple touch of the partner, endomorphins (“Hormons of Happiness”) are released into the physical body. They maintain desire, passion and happiness in the couple.

“After a certain time, however, the activity of endomorphins decreases, which can lead to the installation of the routine.

The sexual activity therefore becomes very important at this time, because during the orgasm these endomorphins are released throughout the body, giving the sensation of extreme happiness.

Also, these hormones also help to eliminate stress, improve the intellectual performance of people, maintain the youth and vitality of the body. ”
